I believe we restored and encapsulated this backyard deck with #uglydecksyndrome in 2018. I may be off a year. Pictured above was after cleaning. It was actually way worse looking.
The deck had several rotten boards that we replaced , loose boards , frayed wood, splinters , loose fasteners, loose rails, mildew and algae growth and more. It was extremely sun damaged grey wood.
Although this deck was in a dirty sun damaged condition, it was not deteriorated enough to be considered a deck rescue situation.
What we specified for this was #deckrestorationpainting.
At Kong Armor we specify Deck Restoration Painting when a deck is in solid condition , yet likely needs a few repairs. Common repairs we take on often for #deckrestorationpainting is replacement of up to 5 deck boards , replacing up to 5 spindles. And other small repairs and replacements that are in-line with bringing the deck system back up to maintenance standards. Sound and safe.

Our process is a bit different than standard deck painting or staining with a thin residential paint or stain.

While simultaneously using it’s high build characteristics to lockdown and resurface splinters and frayed weathered wood.

We ended up doing a few more coats and filling in a lot more of the cracks and gaps that you see in the photo above. The deck’s overall appearance at actual completion was way more resurfaced . It had a almost composite like appearance.
