Deck Armor Encapsulation is Superior to Deck Painting and Deck Staining

A few years ago one of my Deck Armor Crew Bosses moved to the East Coast. A Painter by trade, upon his arrival to his new area he began working for local painting contractors/ painting businesses. After some time he picked up work from a few companies that focused on deck painting and deck staining.

He returned to Northern Kentucky in 2023 and started working with Kong Armor again.

One day while working on a project, he approached me. He said, “I’d just like to shake your hand. I want you to know how much respect I have for you.”

I thought he was joking or up to some horse play at first. But his demeanor turned dead serious. So, I extended my hand and accepted the shake and gesture.

“What’s that all about”, I said. Looking for a reason for the sudden show of sincere respect. A departure from our normal relaxed and laid back conversations.

He looked at me and said:

“I just want you to know that nobody does decks as well as you. It’s not even close”

He explained that he had worked for the best painting contractors. He also worked for the top deck refinishing contractors. Both here in Cincinnati, and up and Down the east Coast. He knew for certain no one matched the level of deck resurfacing and protection that Kong Armor provides. Especially its final appearance and overall quality.

It was a genuine show of respect.

One that I took. I typically do not accept them. I often blow off compliments and things like this from individuals. Because I know they come with manipulation sometimes. But that’s not what this was. He was being very genuine.

The Deck on the left will decay and rot. It is painted with thin residential paint. Its cracks and screw entry holes were not closed off to water. The Deck on the right got all cracks and nail and screw holes encapsulated via Kong Armor™ . It is Superior. Far Superior. But this takes effort and knowledge!

I Accepted because I felt it was about time someone else noticed!

I’ve long known the truth that this man came to realize. Deck Armor Encapsulation via Kong Armor ™, the Lifetime Deck Armor System, is far superior. It surpasses regular old deck painting or deck staining.

Kong Armor the Coating paired with #Encapsulation, a method of deck Resurfacing that I designed. It leads to the Thickest, Toughest, Most Protected, and Drop Dead Gorgeous Decks on the planet today.

Encapsulation from Kong Armor is a different beast all together than standard deck painting or deck staining techniques.

It’s performed using a High-Build, High-Stretch, Industrial Grade Deck Coating. This coating reigns as the toughest protection for decks now in existence.

But it’s one thing to have a High Powered Deck Coating like Kong Armor. It’s a completely other thing to know how to properly use it. It requires knowledge to rebuild deck surfaces and lock them away from mother natures reach.

Encapsulation is that knowledge.

It’s the process I designed to apply this high powered Resurfacing Coating. It squeezes out every ounce of its potential for our customers. Deck Armor Encapsulation!

The image displays a deck board being painted and the painter left a large crack open. Defeating the purpose of painting the deck to begin with.
Notice the painter in this picture has left a large crack open in the deck board. This defeats the purpose of painting the deck. Water can freely enter the deck board. In-turn the board will degrade and rot.

Whats the difference between Encapsulation and standard deck painting or staining?

A whole ton of hard work!

And I mean a ton of hard work.

Let’s say you hire Billy the painter to wash your deck and have him paint it.

Billy is going to wash your deck and then go get the cheapest paint possible. This preserves his profit. Then he is going to take that cheap water thin paint and apply two thin coats to your deck. Just like he would paint anything else. He has no knowledge of why decks degrade and rot. And no future obligation to you. So, He is going to apply the paint without any real intent to protect. Just enough to make your deck look decent and get that payment check from you.

The end result will be a giant let down. Within a few months you will notice that your deck looks horrible again. That it’s still decaying and rotting away.

Billy didn’t have the right Coating! Just as importantly, he didn’t apply the coating with the intent to protect your decks surface. Which means he left all your decks cracks and nail / screw entry holes open. He didn’t get the splinters covered over and locked down. All he accomplished was changing the color of your decks surface.

Nothing changed. After he left and took his pay. The deck was still wide open to mother nature. Rain or precipitation easily entered the deck’s surfaces. This is through the thousands of cracks and nail and screw holes. Billy neglected to fill these in and over. That alone in and of itself means DECK DEATH.

That’s before we add in the UV Rays, Foot Traffic, Extreme Heat and Cold. Not to mention Expansion and Contraction Cycles and plethora of other external forces and combination of forces that degrade decks.

Encapsulation is different. The method of application I invented to Rebuild the Surfaces of Decks is Far Superior.

We have the Correct Coating System for the job. Kong’s a beast! it can LockDown Splinters, Peeling Paint, and we’re talking about a film that’s unbelievably tough and Thick.

But the way we apply it is Special. I call it “with the intent to protect”. It gets done via brush and roller. Every Stroke of the Brush! Every roll of the roller! Its done with the intent to fill in, close off, and cover over cracks, nail / screw entry holes, knots, voids, etc. These are water openings for your Deck. It’s how mother nature enters and causes destruction. THEY MUST BE FILLED IN AND COVERED OVER WELL!

Deck Restoration Painters at Kong Armor are trained to focus on pressing our armor coating into these openings. First and above all else. Working with the intent to protect. We continue until these cracks and water openings are all filled in. This is done via manual pressing of the coating system into the open cracks etc.

They are also trained to focus on covering over and locking down everything. Were talking Frayed wood, Splinters, Peeling Paint, Bolts, braces, connectors. Everything gets engulfed in Kong.

Deck Armor Encapsulation
The Deck on the left has open cracks. Even large rotted out nail holes that have been left open to continue to degrade and cause deck death. The Deck on the right was encapsulated with Kong Armor™. It has all openings including cracks, and nail and or screw holes closed off completely. Superior!

Two Coats wont Due

Once your decks cracks and openings are Encapsulated (closed off), we start piling on the Thick- Build Kong Armor. With 30x to 60x the film thickness of thin residential deck paints and stains. This creates a High-Build, Ultra-tough, Synthetic Almost Composite Like Appearance. It’s common for us to use between 4 and 6 coats. We do this to properly encapsulate the surfaces and rebuild extremely weathered decks. Also, its done to make sure the coating system is viable. So it has the thickness and toughness to last for the customer. And it can provide defense against the external forces that are going to try and cause degradation to it.

The end results is way better than Billy the local painter. Your decks surfaces are void of any water openings. The cracks and nail and screw holes are Encapsulated and Locked-Down under a Thick-Build Armor. True Water Lock. The water can’t get to them. Instead it beads on Kong’s Synthetic like surfaces and gravity drops it down and off the deck. On a whole sale level it never enters. It has no where to enter. WHICH IS THE POINT OF PROTECTING YOUR DECK.

If you are in the market to have your deck refinished and protected? I suggest you always take caution. Do not let anyone or any company do a quick two coat application of thin residential deck paint or stain. Especially if they do not have a warranty, or any type of further obligation after completion. YOU WILL REGRET IT!

You can easily test to see if I am telling the Truth!

Get a quote to paint your deck from any local Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Southeast Indiana painting contractor, handyman, etc. Ask them if they will take the time to fill in every crack. Will they fill in every surface opening on your deck or structure? They will laugh and tell you no! That it is impossible or not necessary. That two coats will due!

Then get a Free Quote from us and ask us the same thing! You will find that we do it by default. All of Kong Armor’s ™ Lifetime Deck Armor Systems finish with cracks, knots, and voids closed off. Nail and screw entry holes are also closed off. The Ultimate in Water-Lock Protection. Minus human error of course. We occasionally miss one or two.

You know whats funny? I often get remarks on social post and even in person from others in the Deck Refinishing Industry. They say things like ” Your wasting your time filling in all the cracks on your decks” or ” I can’t believe you put that much effort and labor into your projects”

I rarely respond. But a quick look into who they are and what they offer reveals something important. They usually have no obligation to the owners of the decks they refinish after they’re done. They have no Brand, No real reputation. They are like Billy the local painter. They just want that payment check. Nothing else matters.

So of course they believe it’s a waste of time

At Kong Armor we protect Decks for Life. Kong is Lifetime Deck Armor. Our System owners have Locally backed Warranty, Service and Support for their Lifetime Deck Armor Systems for life.

We go the extra mile for them. Because we have a Brand that has a obligation to them. We have a reputation for creating the Toughest and Most Protective Deck Coating Systems on the Planet. Right here locally in Cincinnati- Northern Kentucky- Southeast Indiana.
