Locked Down for Life: Peeling Paint Encapsulation & Rail System Upgrade in Cincinnati

When the owners of what we now call the #daytonadeck reached out, they had nearly given up hope. Their deck was in rough shape—flaking paint, deeply weathered wood, rusted metal spindles, poorly executed repairs, and surface cracks everywhere. Most contractors wouldn’t touch it, especially not with the peeling paint involved.

That’s where Kong Armor® stepped in.

Armed with the World’s Toughest Deck Armor™ and backed by the industry’s leading Deck Rescue Painters, we brought first-in-class Lockdown Encapsulation to this deteriorating structure—and turned it into something extraordinary.

Here’s how we transformed it:

  • Deep cleaned and prepped the entire structure 💦 for full Armor Encapsulation
  • Replaced all rail cap boards and swapped out failing metal spindles for pressure-treated lumber and 316 stainless steel screws
  • Reinforced surface integrity using Silverback Epoxy, our ultra-tough crack filler and deck repair compound—perfect for knots, bee holes, and voids
  • Removed rotten, expired, and damaged decking boards
  • Secured loose fasteners and performed full maintenance across the structure

Only after this extensive preparation—did we bring in the Lifetime Armor. Kong Armor® was laid down in thick, elastic, high-build layers that encapsulated every peeling fragment, splinter, crack, and gap.

🔒 The peeling paint? Locked down. Permanently. no sanding, no chemical peels, no blasting needed.
The result?
A deck surface with a high-end composite-like aesthetic, completely sealed from the elements, backed by our Lifetime Limited Warranty 📜 and Lifetime Service Promise 📝.

This project wasn’t just a rescue—it was a resurrection. A structure once on the brink now stands as a showcase of what’s possible when you specify Kong Armor®, the only name in permanent deck resurfacing! Lifetime Deck Armor
